Double-Sided Jacquard Room Darkening Curtain

A thickened solid-colour jacquard panel that blocks 80 to 90 per cent of light - enough to take a room from bright to properly dim, though not a full blackout. It softens early sunrises and keeps a bedroom dark enough for daytime sleep, which suits shift workers, light sleepers and nurseries that need a calmer room at nap time. If you need total darkness rather than deep shade, choose a fully lined blackout panel instead.

The fabric is a double-sided jacquard, woven with the pattern on both faces, so the panel looks finished from the street as well as from inside the room. It is heavier than a standard curtain, which is what gives it the drape: it hangs straight from the header, folds evenly and holds its shape rather than creasing across the middle. The woven texture also absorbs a little of the noise coming through the window.

Each panel is cut to order, so check the width, the drop and the heading style carefully before you buy, and allow extra width so the curtain gathers rather than stretching flat across the opening. Measuring from the rod instead of the frame gives you a true floor-length fall. In a nursery or a child's room, keep the fabric and any tieback cords out of reach and well away from the crib.
