Description

The pile on this cover is deeper and more evenly cut than on a standard velvet, which is what gives it the quality of catching light in bands as you move past it. Run a hand across it and the direction of the nap changes the shade slightly, so a single solid colour ends up with far more visual depth than the same colour in a flat woven cotton or a printed panel.

This is the simplest way to change how a sofa looks without replacing the cushions inside it. Inserts stay where they are, the covers come off, and a set of four in a new shade resets the whole seating area for the price of a takeaway. It is a particularly useful trick in a rented room or anywhere the furniture itself is not yours to change, and it takes about ten minutes.

Four solid shades are available, all chosen to work as a group rather than as separate one off colours, so mixing two across a sofa still reads as one scheme. Cut to the standard 45 by 45 cm insert size. Brush the pile with a soft brush if it flattens where people lean, and avoid pressing it with an iron. Supplied as a cover only, without a pillow insert included.

  • Deep, evenly cut velvet pile that catches the light
  • Four solid shades designed to be mixed as a set
  • Standard 45 x 45 cm size for common cushion inserts
  • Refresh a whole sofa without replacing the cushions inside
  • Brush the pile to restore it, do not press with an iron
  • Cover only, the pillow insert is not included

Luxury velvet cushion cover with a deep pile

A Deeper, Evener Pile

The pile here is deeper and more evenly cut than on a standard velvet, which is what gives it the quality of catching light in clean bands as you move past.

Frequently Asked Questions

How is this different from a standard velvet cover?

The pile is deeper and cut more evenly, so the surface looks richer and reflects light in clean bands rather than patchily.

Can I get a size other than 45 by 45?

Yes, custom sizing is offered, which is useful for older sofas with non standard cushions or for bolsters that never fit a square cover.

Does the colour look different in photos?

Velvet always reads slightly differently depending on the light and the direction of the nap. That shift is the fabric behaving as it should rather than a fault.

Is it hard wearing?

A dense evenly cut pile holds up better than a thin one, since there is more fibre supporting each point of pressure. It suits a sofa in daily use.

How do I care for it?

Cool gentle wash without the insert, dry flat or on very low heat, and brush the pile in one direction while damp to reset the finish.
