A large solid-colour knit finished with a tasselled fringe, made from cotton thread blended with polyester fibre so it keeps the handle of a cotton throw with rather more resilience to daily washing. Solid colour is the useful choice here: without a pattern to place, the blanket sits comfortably in a room you have already decorated and does not compete with a printed cushion or a patterned rug.
It is sized for full coverage rather than decoration alone. Spread across a sofa it protects the upholstery and covers two people, over a chair it hides worn arms, and on a bed it works as a top layer or a foot-of-the-bed throw. Do not bleach it, and wash dark and light colours separately. Dry it flat rather than hanging it, which stops the weight of the water pulling the knit out of shape at the edges.
