The surface is smooth and slippery, so hair slides across it as you turn instead of catching, and skin is not dragged into the folds that leave creases in the morning.
That means less friction on hair overnight, fewer tangles to work out at the sink, and less of the frizz that comes from hair being roughed up while you sleep. It is a cosmetic difference rather than a treatment, but it is one you notice within a week, particularly with longer hair, curls or a fresh blow-dry you would like to keep for another day.
